THCa FAQ
What Exactly is THCa?
THCa stands for tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, a compound naturally present in raw cannabis. On its own, it doesn’t produce a high. But when exposed to heat—like when smoking or vaping—it transforms into THC, the psychoactive element in marijuana.
Is THCa Legal?
Generally, yes—if it’s derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, it’s federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. However, some states have their own restrictions or interpretations, so it’s important to verify the rules in your area.
Can THCa cause a failed drug test?
It can. Although THCa is not psychoactive, it may convert into THC in your body or during the testing process, potentially triggering a positive result on a drug screening.
